Russells Point, Ohio, January 29, 2024 – Building on its initial success in 2023, West Ohio Tool Co. returned to Las Vegas Jan. 22-23 with two booths for SHOT Show 2024, Supplier Showcase where it further enhanced its role as a national tooling manufacturer for the defense and aerospace industries.
The annual Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show gathered some 50,000 shooting, hunting, military and outdoor trade industry representatives and enthusiasts from 100 countries to the largest professional event of its kind in the country. West Ohio Tool featured a collection of carbide and polycrystalline diamond (PCD) custom drills, reamers, mills, end mills, grooving and internal forming tools along with its innovative EdgeX4 tools that dramatically reduces cost per hole.
In addition to showcasing its advanced custom tooling solutions and services that include retipping and regrinding, West Ohio Tool capitalized on its numerous certifications, all of which open doors to further government and defense contracting. The company’s most recent AS9100D certification received in November 2023 is an internationally recognized standard for aerospace quality management systems essential for aerospace manufacturing companies. Acquiring AS9100D status provides West Ohio Tool well-earned inclusion in the Online Aerospace Supplier Information System (OASIS) that is maintained by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG). IAQG sets quality standards for the worldwide aviation, defense and space supply chain.
The company is also awaiting its Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 that is required for U.S. Department of Defense contractors to protect sensitive federal contract information (FCI) and controlled unclassified information (CUI). With AS9100 in hand, the CMMC certification will be instrumental in West Ohio Tool’s planned expansion into the defense, governmental and aerospace markets.
West Ohio Tool team members addressed ongoing industry pain points such as tool delivery times with attendees, showing that its custom tool deliveries were 75% faster than the industry average. It also expanded relationships established at the previous show. A major military gun manufacturer commissioned a custom .50-caliber chamber reamer after West Ohio Tool’s SHOT Show 2023 appearance, and after a full year of performance the tooling is still in service and exceeding expectations. As a result, the company has significantly expanded services and tooling with West Ohio Tool.
